Marcel P. Black on SEEDED w/ Bomani Armah (Interview)

Conscious rap artist, Marcel P. Black, joins us for Episode 2 of SEEDED.

Honor the Ancestors. Prepare the Descendants. Love Right Now.

The ancestor he honored was Fred Hampton.

To prepare the descendants he makes sure to tell them “An enemy has done this”.

What he loves right now is performing live in front of an audience.

I brought in Marcel P. Black to be the second guest of SEEDED after we realized how many people that both we respect and share community in common with. I posted once about being the type of Hip Hop artist I am because my father and other family members were preachers. Having something to say, and conducting spiritual energy, is something I always felt the microphone was for. It guides how I rap. Our mutual friend Donney Rose tagged Marcel in the comment section, because it reminded him of something Marcel would say. He also commented on my conversation I had with Dr. Jared Ball talking about the state of Black people in America and promoting my single “Not My Ministry”. Following him on social media became part of my reminder to myself that I am not the only one seeing the system the way I do. That I am, thankfully, not original. I dove into his catalogue and found more than we have in common. It all comes to light in this interview.

From the pulpits and street corners of Ardmore, OK comes Bryan Marcel Williams I aka Marcel P. Black (the emcee). Once a member of an underground hip hop collective, Black ventured out into solo territories and has been on a steady mission to revolutionize the way you think of, listen to and view hip hop music. Though inspired by multiple musical genres and great emcees, Black's greatest influence as a hip hop artist can be found within himself. An ever evolving entity, Marcel P. Black at one time or another has been a misguided soul influenced by gang culture, an athlete, a band geek, a militant and a mentor but at all times has been authentically a man, authentically him.
